The Book Fair is coming – Sept 30 – Oct 7
The Scholastic Book Fair will be here Sept 30 – Oct 7. All students will have the chance to visit with their Language Arts classes, during LEAD and after school. The Book Fair will also be open until 8:30 pm during the 9/30 and 10/7 conference nights so parents can shop, too!! If you’d like to shop online or see a preview of what will be available, visit our book fair online.
*You can even pre-order the brand new Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Dog Man books online or at the fair!*
Consider setting up an e-wallet account online which eliminates the need to send cash to school with your kids!
If you would like to help with the fair, we are still in need of lots of volunteers!
Free or Reduced Meal Program Application

Families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced-price meals are encouraged to complete an application by Oct. 1. While all St. Vrain Valley students receive one free breakfast and one free lunch daily through Colorado’s Healthy School Meals for All program, submitting an application provides additional benefits to families such as fee waivers, college exam discounts, and reduced internet and utility costs, and also helps bring federal funding to support classrooms, after-school programs, technology, and additional meals and snacks for students. Applications are available online or at Nutrition Services, 2929 Clover Basin Dr., Longmont.

St. Vrain Valley Schools invites the community to donate gently used instruments during the Annual Instrument Collection Drive on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 3 from 8 a.m.–1 p.m. at the Lincoln School Building. All donated instruments are cleaned, tuned, and repaired before being placed in classrooms or offered for student rentals, expanding access to music education across the district. Most instruments are welcome (except drum sets and upright pianos). Donors will receive a receipt from the St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation.

Next Thursday, October 2 is the Silver Creek High School Dig Pink match vs. Frederick HS and our annual fundraiser to support Breast Cancer families. We have several opportunities for our SCHS community to partner with our volleyball team to support Roberta’s Legacy, a local non-profit that comes alongside families financially who are affected by breast cancer. 100% of proceeds are donated to this cause. Buy a t-shirt to help us “pink out” the gym, eat at Proto’s Pizza, join us at Swaylo’s on Oct. 22 or just donate to the cause. Hope to see you at the game. Go Raptors!
Art Club: Update
**No Art Club meeting Tuesday, September 30th, OR Tuesday, October 7th, for Parent Teacher Conferences!**
We had a wonderful turnout for our first Art Club meeting! Students made shrinky dink keychains and we had so much fun. Due to a large population wanting to join the Art Club (especially 6th) we are going to have to start doing rotations. We will have some specific 7th and 8th grade designated days and some spots for 6th grade one those days. Once the sign up sheets are full that means students will have to try to sign up for a different session. Below is a breakdown of the rotation schedule and the sign up link:
- Sign Up Link for 6th Graders
- Sept 16: 7th/8th Day & 6th grade sign up
- Sept 23: 6th grade sign up
- Oct 14: 7th/8th Day & 6th grade sign up
- Oct 21: 6th grade sign up
- Oct 28: 7th/8th Day & 6th grade sign up
- Nov 4: 6th grade sign up
- Nov 11: 7th/8th Day & 6th grade sign up
- Nov 18: 6th grade sign up
- Dec 2: 7th/8th Day & 6th grade sign up

- Dec 16: 7th/8th Day & 6th grade sign up
Parent Leadership Team Corner:
A Message from the PLT Team-
2025 Fall AMS Staff Conference Dinner Donations Needed!
Help us make 2025 Fall AMS Staff Conference Dinner a great one for our amazing Altona staff! Our PLT will be providing pizza, and we’ll need salad, dessert, and drinks. We’re all set on plates and napkins, so no need to bring those items. If you’re donating non-perishables, you may start dropping them off at the office next week—dont mind the Sept 30th date for those signup slots. The staff will set everything aside for us until it’s time to set up. Thank you so much for your generosity and support in treating our amazing staff!

St. Vrain Valley Schools invites families to attend Band Night on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 6:00 p.m. at Everly-Montgomery Field in Longmont. The evening will feature performances from high school bands across the district, concluding with a drone show presented by the St. Vrain Student Performance Drone Team. This event is a great opportunity to bring students and the community together in support of local feeder high schools.
Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children age six and under. Eighth grade students will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
Gifted & Talented

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic and/or talent areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
