What Is Cyberpatriot?

What is CyberPatriot?

CyberPatriot is the a national education program that teaches secondary students about cyber ethics and cyber security..  At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. Acting as newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company, students work in teams of five on a virtual image that looks like an operating system. During the six-hour competitions, the teams must identify and correct cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the virtual image.  Teams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Baltimore, MD for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.

Nationwide, 598 middle school teams are competing in CyberPatriot, 31 in Colorado, ten of which are right here at Altona Middle School.
