Altona NJHS Information & Application

Do you have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5? If so, the Altona Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society would like to offer you the opportunity to become a member. The organization is well respected among administrators, faculty members, students, parents and residents of the school communities around the nation.

Academic achievement is only one of the five membership criteria. NJHS seeks students that also have demonstrated leadership, service, citizenship, and character in their school and community. The National Junior Honor Society strives to recognize the whole student–one who excels in all areas.

In addition to attending bimonthly meetings, members of NJHS are expected to help plan and participate in leadership and service activities throughout the year, including, but not limited to peer tutoring, fund raising, volunteering, service projects and leadership seminars. Being a member of the organization is both an honor and a responsibility.

In order to learn more about your accomplishments and experience, we invite you to complete an application. A completed application will include these 3 steps (click on each for more info):

  1. Filling out this Google form
  2. Recommendation letter from an adult other than a parent
  3. Completed signature page

The application deadline is Friday, May 6, 2016 by 11:59 PM. No late applications will be accepted. Please turn in your signature page and recommendation letter in to Ms. Mansfield in the counseling office. If selected for NJHS the induction ceremony will be held in the fall on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the Rattler’s Den.
