Please Join Us In Celebrating Our Teacher of the Year: Joe Rovere

A man with short hair smiles, wearing a black and red graphic shirt with a snake design against a gray background.

We are proud to recognize Joe Rovere as our Teacher of the Year! Mr. Rovere’s impact on our school extends far beyond the classroom. In addition to being an outstanding educator, he serves as the coach of our highly successful Robotics program, where his leadership, dedication, and passion for innovation continue to inspire students to achieve at extraordinary levels.

Under Mr. Rovere’s guidance, our 2025–2026 Robotics program has experienced one of the most successful seasons in school history—and the season isn’t finished yet. Six of our teams are currently preparing to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship, representing our school and the St. Vrain Valley Schools community on the global stage.

This year’s program highlights include:

  • 56 total tournament entries
  • 22 league teams
  • 9 competition teams
  • 9 teams advanced to the State competition
  • 6 teams qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championship

Qualifying six teams for the World Championship for the second year in a row places our program in elite company. Since 2018, only four other private school organizations worldwide—Shanghai Riguan, Redwood Robotics, Ten Ton Robotics, and Blaze Robotics—have qualified six or more middle school teams in a single season. Back-to-back six-team seasons puts Altona among the top robotics programs globally.

Our teams have also earned 58 total awards this season, including 8 Excellence Awards and 11 Tournament Championships.

This incredible success reflects the relentless effort of our students, the hundreds of hours of coaching and mentorship provided by Mr. Rovere and our robotics staff, the strong support from families, and a program culture grounded in grit, teamwork, innovation, and leadership.

Most importantly, students are developing critical life skills—learning to think critically, collaborate effectively, persevere through challenges, and compete with integrity.

We are incredibly proud of every student involved in robotics this year and look forward to cheering on our teams as they compete on the world stage. Congratulations to Mr. Rovere on this well-deserved recognition and thank you for the remarkable impact you continue to make in our school community.
