Middle School Wrestling Season is Here!
Boys and Girls both welcome, registration is open from January 20th to 29th.
The first practice is on January 27th after school. Practices run from 4:00-5:30.
Practices will be held 5 days a week until meets begin, then transition to 4 days a week.
All skills welcome, from beginners to experienced! Wrestlers will be matched based on weight classifications as well as skills for the meets. All grade levels have the opportunity to participate and travel to the meets.

The sign-up window for parents opens on Tuesday, January 21 at 8:00 AM and will close on Monday, January 27 at 11:59 pm. Before booking your appointments, we kindly ask that you review the Altona Parent/Teacher Conference Info & Tips (English) sheet. This document includes helpful guidance on how to schedule conferences, navigate the Meet The Teacher website, and decide which teachers to meet with.

Hearing & Vision Screening
There will be a vision and hearing screening for 7th graders and new to SVVSD students on January 29th. If your student falls in this category, please encourage them to wear their glasses to school on this day.
If the screening indicates your student needs further evaluation, you will be
notified by mail. Please consult your school’s health clerk if you have questions or concerns.

The Code Zone Challenge
On behalf of the SVVSD Innovation Center, the Cyber Tech Team invites Altona Middle School to the 5th annual Python coding competition, The CodeZone Challenge. This event will take place at the SVVSD Innovation Center on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 from 1pm – 4pm. Please complete this form to let Mrs. Basile know your interest. For more information and training materials, please check out codezonechallenge.com.
The CodeZone Challenge is split into two divisions: a Novice Division for new Python coders and an Advanced Division for more experienced students. Students will compete in teams of 2-4 students from the same school. During the competition, each team will have about 25 problems to solve through Python programs. Career Day!
Altona is excited to hold our 3rd annual school-wide Career Day on April 25th! Adult family members or friends of Altona students are encouraged to participate as speakers in the event. We welcome help from anyone passionate about their occupation and open to discussing it with Rattlers! Spring Drama Opportunity: The Brother’s Grimm Spectaculathon
We are partnering with the Silver Creek Thespian Group, an International Honor Society at the high school, to create a one-act play, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, for Spring 2025. This group led by Tracy Knick, Silver Creek’s Theatre Director, is working on a plan for Altona students to have a production this spring at Silver Creek. All auditions and performances will be held at Silver Creek High School with a workshop and family meeting on February 12. Auditions to occur on February 21, with rehearsals throughout March and April and performances on April 24 and 25. Additionally, cast members will be invited to the Silver Creek performance of Mean Girls on March 6th.
