The Altona/Westview Cross Country Team finished the 2016 season on strong note at the Colorado Middle School State Cross Country Championship Race this past Saturday at Fehringer Ranch Park. All of the runners were able to compete in the open race, and the top seven boys and girls that held qualifying state times were able to compete with the top middle school runners for the championship race.
It was a 2.1 mile course, and our boys team took 3rd place out of 54 boy teams that competed. Seventh grader Luke Graboski and eighth grader Matthew Louie helped to contribute in earning the win on Saturday. Luke finished with a time of 13.36, and Matthew finished with a time of 13.59. Even though our girls did not place in the top twenty they ran with heart, and fought hard for their times. Eighth grader Olivia Hinklin finished with a time of 15:15, and fellow eighth grader Briar Bell finished with a time of 17.22. Seventh grader Riley Crawford finished with a time of 19.11, and our sixth graders Elle Murray and Emma Massey finished with times of 15.39 and 16.42. Congratulations to all of the runners on a fantastic season!
