2015 iPad Deployment Info!

iPad deployment for the 2015-15 school year is here!  Please read the information below BEFORE your scheduled date to pick up your iPad!

Dear Parents and Students,

We can’t believe that summer is almost over and the school year is about to begin, but it’s officially time to pick up your school-issued iPad.  It is important that you do your best to pick up your iPad on the scheduled day for your grade level.  We will be fully staffed to support these deployment days and will do our best to make this process as easy as possible.  The process should take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.  There will be two short makeup windows for those who can’t be here next week, but staff will be limited and it may take considerably longer.  Families with both 6th and 7th/8th grade students should pick up their iPads on Wednesday.

7th and 8th Grade iPad Deployments will be held on Tuesday, August 11 from 10:00 – 12:00 and 2:00 – 5:00.  Please come during the time that is most convenient for you.

6th Grade iPad Deployment will be held on Wednesday, August 12 from 9:00 – 12:00 and 2:00 – 5:00.  Please come during the time that is most convenient for you.

Things to do BEFORE you arrive that will make the deployment more efficient for you:

  • Print off a copy of the Learning Technology Plan agreement.  You will need one signed agreement for each student checking out an iPad.  Any student who is unaccompanied by an adult MUST have an LTP agreement signed by a parent. You CANNOT pick up an iPad for anyone other than your student(s), even with a signed agreement– no exceptions.

    • Parents: If you are picking up your student’s iPad WITHOUT them, you will need your child’s Apple ID and their SVVSD log-in username and password.

  • Read through the District Student Expectations, Parent Expectations and our NEW Altona iPad/Technology Expectation documents.  The Altona Expectations have been updated and include important information regarding Device Free Zones and not using these devices for games and social media.

  • For any new students to Altona that are under the age of 13, refer to the Under-13 Apple ID email you received from District Technology Services.  Follow these instructions to create your Under-13 Apple ID account.

  • For new 7th and 8th grade students 13 or older, be sure to create an Apple ID Account prior to coming, or if you have an existing account, have your login information ready.

  • iPad Insurance: We strongly suggest that families purchase the optional insurance plan available for your SVVSD iPad.  This non-refundable fee of $35/yr can be paid by cash, check or by credit card on RevTrak.

  • Outstanding iPad fees (for 7th/8th grade students):  If your student has any outstanding fees related to their iPad from last year, they WILL NOT be able to check out their iPad until all fees are paid in full.  Please check RevTrack BEFORE Tuesday to make sure all fees have been paid.

We will have support at the deployments for Apple ID account creation; however, the iPad deployment will go much faster for you have created an Apple ID account ahead of time.

Finally, we are excited to provide this iPad to students to be used as their Learning Vehicle.  These devices are provided to engage, personalize and extend learning for our students.  Two key resources for families are the SVVSD Family Connection Newsletter and Common Sense Media’s Family Toolkit.

See you all next week!
