From science fiction tales of R2-D2 and HAL 9000, comes today’s reality of robotics in our daily lives. This advancing technology requires 21st century skills of teamwork, critical thinking and creativity. In April, three teams from the St. Vrain Valley School District will take on that challenge at world level robotics competitions.
This was the quote that stayed with Cleveland Smith, Altona Special Education Teacher, after his return from an 11-day trip to Uganda, Africa. Smith was part of a team organized by Flatirons Community Church to support teachers at the Musana Community Development Organization.
“The [teachers] know they are part of something bigger,” said Smith.
Altona had 8 students audition and were selected to participate in the 2015 University of Colorado Honor Band. There were more Altona students selected for this prestigious honor than any other school! Congratulations to all of the following students:(Pictured from left to right) Kelly Kuei, Mary Yao, Noah Feldman, Kendall Lee, Sreeya Kairamkonda, Sarah Halperin, Alan Yu, and Quinn Gossett.
